Homework

Homework gives parents and carers the opportunity to understand what their children are learning at school as well as a chance to support learning at home. It is our policy to give children a manageable amount of homework so that it does not become a burden for parents and children alike. If parents and carers need any help or support with homework, then please see the class teacher in the first instance - they will be happy to help. Below is an overview of the homework in each year group.

Subject

Home learning activity choices

In Reception and Y1 Autumn Term, parents and pupils are encouraged to complete home learning activities.

All pupils are expected to read regularly at home at least 3 times per week, with a record made in their planner. This is a very important strand to pupil homework.

In KS1, tricky words are sent home for pupils to learn

In Years KS2, spellings are given to pupils to study, for a test in school.

Grammar and Punctuation

In Years 5 and 6, Grammar and punctuation homework is given to reinforce work that is being completed in school.

 Y3/4/5: Multiplication tables practise also

Most homework will be given out on THURSDAY to be returned the following WEDNESDAY. Year 6 maths is given out on a MONDAY for the following MONDAY.

We no longer give out the 'Puzzle Homework.' However, if you wish to encourage your child to complete extra-curricular homework it will supported and championed by their class teacher. A list of suggested ideas will be on this web-page in due course.

Thank you for your continued support.
