Emotional Health and Wellbeing at Elmbridge Primary

Young Carers Accreditation - July 2019

Schools play an important role in supporting the wellbeing of children and young people at a time when they are experiencing many physical, emotional and social changes.  The introduction of the Young Minds Matter team working within schools is a new approach, introduced as a pilot across the country, to provide an additional layer of support for our pupils.

The YMM team are working with 73 schools across Gloucestershire to tackle the challenges children and young people have told us they experience by helping them to feel more resilient, arming them with techniques to look after themselves and strategies to help them cope better with life’s ups and downs.  This includes support for things such as:  mild-moderate anxiety  low mood  friendship issues. Support will be offered through low intensity Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (LI-CBT), counselling sessions, themed group work or information workshops.  The teams will also support parents and teachers with information, advice and guidance about how best to help children who are experiencing difficulties.

The YMM team will work closely with the teaching staff at Elmbridge Primary School. Mrs A. Holliday will be the main contact for the YMM team and staff.
