Year 1
Windmills
Year 1 have also been busy learning all about windmills as part of their structures unit. They designed a windmill that would stand up and that would have a moving part. The children enjoyed creating the structure, the turbine and the sails, a split pin was used as an axle.
Moving pictures
In their Mechanisms unit, Year 1 have been learning about sliders. They looked at how physical objects can be moved, then talked about how a picture could be made to move. The children made a slider to make the rabbit slide up and down from inside a hat, and a slider to make a car travel along a road side to side.

Puppets
Year 1's were busy making hand puppets in the Autumn term. They read the story 'The Little Red Riding Hood' and designed a hand puppet based on a character from the story.
The children then learnt how to use a template and explored how to join felt together using a stapler. Finally, the face details were cut out and added on, to complete the puppet.
