Dear Parents/ Carers
Following yesterday’s email I am writing to inform you of a change in circumstances with regard to opening tomorrow. It has not been an easy decision but due to significant staffing shortages, resulting in a compromise of health and safety, the Governors and Senior Leadership have agreed that we will only be able to open to critical workers and vulnerable pupils (including pupil premium pupils and those with an Education Health Care Plan).
In the first instance, the closure will apply until Friday 15th January in line with secondary schools. This should allow sufficient time to reassess our own risk assessment and the effect of Tier 4 restrictions currently imposed in our area on the rate of infection. The situation will then be reviewed and, in consultation with Governors and staff, we are hopeful that we will be able to make a decision to reopen to all pupils.
Parents/carers who fulfil the criteria as a critical worker are:
Health and Social Care
To confirm your requirements please complete the google form using the following link by 6 p.m. this evening. Further explanation of what constitutes a critical worker is included within the Google form.
The school will be providing remote learning to those children working from home. This will be via Showbie for pupils in Years 3-6 and via Tapestry for Reception to Year 2 pupils. However, if you have any concerns with regard to managing the online learning programmes please email your class teacher using the email address attached. Teaching staff will be in contact with parents/carers of those children not engaging with Showbie or Tapestry to offer advice and support.
We are unable to provide before and after school childcare but please contact Emma Thomas at the Elmbridge Childcare Club to check availability and whether they are able to provide this service during the two-week period.
Caterlink, our catering company, will still provide meals for those pupils at school and for those pupils who are entitled to Free School Meals.
I fully appreciate that this is short notice and we apologise for any inconvenience caused but I am sure you understand that the safety of all members of our school and wider community is of the utmost importance at this time.
