Coronorvirus update

As we have welcomed children back, some have exhibited mild cough and cold symptoms. This is to be expected and these children should continue to come to school.

Some children and people in their households have, however, shown symptoms similar to those of the coronavirus. This includes any one of these symptoms.

  • a high temperature – this means you feel hot to touch on your chest or back (you do not need to measure your temperature)
  • a new, continuous cough – this means coughing a lot for more than an hour, or 3 or more coughing episodes in 24 hours (if you usually have a cough, it may be worse than usual)
  • a loss or change to your sense of smell or taste – this means you've noticed you cannot smell or taste anything, or things smell or taste different to normal

If a child or other person in their household is showing these symptoms, then they should not come to school. If they have any siblings in their household, they should not attend school either. In this case, you should arrange a test for the affected person as soon as possible. In the meantime, the entire household should self isolate.

If the test is negative, then children can return to school.

If the test is positive, then please inform the school as soon as you can. The affected person will need to isolate for 10 days. The rest of the household (parents, siblings etc) will need to isolate for 14 days. Each year group aims to have home learning materials on the website by the end of this week for any children who are isolating. Paper copies can be requested via the school office.

Please contact the school office for any other help or support you may need.
